NSW: Carr slams report encouraging Australian jobs overseas.
New South Wales Premier BOB CARR says Foreign Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER must immediately
shred a report advising Australian business to take advantage of cheap labor in India.
Mr CARR says the report is counterproductive and at odds with state government policies.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade yesterday released a report saying there
are substantial cost savings to be had if operations such as call centres moved to the
sub-continent.
Mr CARR says his government has a strategy to get call centres into regional areas.
He says the message to companies should be that the best customer service can only
be maintained by Australian employees working in Australia.
