FED: Former G G to head expert panel on referendum
CANBERRA, April 20 AAP - Former governor-general Sir Ninian Stephen will head an expert
panel to be charged with organising a public education campaign about November's referendum on
the Australian republic.
The government-appointed panel will prepare public education programs and national
advertising campaigns for and against the republic proposal.
Attorney-General Daryl Williams and Special Minister of State Chris Ellison said the role
of the panel would be to provide advice on proposed materials for the campaign to ensure they
were fair, balanced and accurate.
